THE PRINCESS THEATRE.

" DANDY DICK."

MrA."W. Pinero's farcical comedy "Dandy Dick" was produced at the Princejs Theatre last night by the Brongh-Bouciciult Company, who played the piece for the flret time on the opening' night of their season about two yearn ujfo. As on that occasion, th« company were accorded an exceedingly cordial recepticn, the audience—which wan so large as to completely fill tbe theatre—recalling the jwrformers at the conclusion of each act. The plsy was mounted with that completeness and careful attention to detail which characterises all the productions of the company ; and was, moreover, performed in a manner which left little to be desired. Mr Titheradge gave a highly successful representation ef the character of the Very Bow. Aogustiu Jfctd, D.D. (the Dean of St. MarteU)—a gentlemaa who prafessesft gnat gvoreion for the tnrf. hni wlkMc'fortndes become wbocTbUbu'

with a racehorse named Dandy Dick in such I n manner as to land him in the leck-up. Mr j Titheredge imparted the requisite amount of ) dignity to tbe character, and acted throughout i with great ability, his efforts meeting with due { recognition at tbe hands of the audience. As j Georgioa Tidroan, the dean's tister—a widow who had made a mesalliance by marrying a gentleman jockey, and who was described ao •' a daisy of tho tarf " —Mrs Brongh afforded the audienca a coasiderablo amount of merrimeut. Fi om her first appearance on tho etf-ge, when ehe was greeted with a loud and prolonged outburst of applause, until the conclusion of tbe play, she kept everyoae present in a stato of the utmost good humour. She infused ft great deal, of spirit inta tbe part, and brought out tho characteristics of the sporting widow with just sufficient prominence, thereby adding another to the number of c.ever rcpreseoteliona with which she has delighted visitors to the theaiva during the present season. Mr Boucicault was remarkably good as Sir Blore, the old butler at tho Deiuery, it being difficult to conceive that ! the cheracter cou'd have been more psrfectly portrayed. As Nosh Topping, the constable of £st. Mnrvells, who is jealous of his wife, a former cook at tlie Deanery, Mr ißrongh also' appeared with figcsl sucaesa. Mus Temple snd Miss Hardy were cast an the dean'a daughters, aad fUled their respective parts to tha gre.\t satisfaction of tha aadieaca. Miss Walt - Taunor had » stcnil part !»3 Hannah Topping, but she made the | most of it, while Mr Carey well represented the character of S r Tristram Msrden, a sporting friend of Georgians Todroau's. Mr BicdIcsj as Major Tarvtr, Mr Dorrington as Wr Dnrbey, end Mr M'lntyrc as Hi-.tcham (Bir Tristrnn's groom) ako did well, and the audience showed in an uuraiEtabeablc manner th»t they thoroughly enjoyed the whole performance. r
