The extent to which tho colonies have lately . draws on London for capital to develop mining and other enterprises is shown by a series oE tables published in the London newspaper Tho Anstrali&u Trading World. JE3.281.100 The West Australian compaolas registered in London daring Joly, August, and September were 176 in number, with »n aggregate capital of £17,612,367. There were seven companies registered from New South Wales, with au aggregate capital of £1,275,000 ; the Victorian companies registered (12; had » capital of £1.15 a 100 ; the Queensland companies, £195,000; the South Australian companies, £250,000; the Tasmanian companies, £270,tOOO There were thus registered for the three months) from the Australian colonies and New Zealand, 220 companies, with a total capital of £28,9*5,567. The grand total for nine months was 365 Australasian companies, with a total capital of £34-,728,69*.
