A child, iq; months old, the daughter of James: (yConnor, a fanner, at Pukekohe, was drowned;, by falling into a boiler containing l-£in water.

An extraordinary accident—fortunately not attended with very serious remits—-happened last week at Masterton to Mrs Fletcher. It appears that she was walking about in the back kitchen, when onddenly the floo? gave way, and she was precipitated into a well. 15ft deep. In falling she caught a ladder, which luckily, was standing in tba well,'otherwise she /*most have been .drowned, assubseqnerit investigation showed that there was folly 9;t of water 5n the .well. Mrs. Fletcher was vpry.ißuch shaken, and had her hand badly hurt where she caught the ladder, her rings being literally torn off. The inmates had no idea that there was a well under the house. ■ .
