Captain Hall, who was in charge of the salvage operations, states that the rock the Cattertbun struck is two miles and a-ha!f sonth-eaat cf the lighthouse, and not more than 20fs fquare, with 21ft o£ water on it. The lock shows signs of the tremendous force with which fcb.B steamer struck ifc. The wreck Jie3 upright, about four miles and a-h^lf from where the vessel struck.- Had she kept afloat a few minutes loEger she would have gone down in 20 fathoms of water, and salvaging: would then have been easy. Both Captain Hall and the diver are o£ opinion that it ia impossible to successfully conduct salvage operations with the present appliances. It is understood that the underwriters have decided to send Home for special applii acces to enable the divers to reach the wreck | of the Catterthun.
