Torawera for Sydney, j via East Coast ports, has been postponed till to- i morrow. Owing to the bad weather which prevailed all | day yesterday very little work was done at the Dunedin wharves/and the steamers Invercargill and Napier were kept back in their departures for j the coast until to-day. The lighter Thomas and Henry,'with transhipments from ship Waimate. was towed up to Dunedin yesterday by the s.s. Plucky. The Waimate, we expect, will be towed up this forenoon, should the weather permit. " The s.s. Tarawera, from Sydney, via East Coast ports, arrived alongside the Bowerf pier at 220 | p.m. yesterday. Mr' Bourne (her purser) reports leaving the company's wharf, Sydnev. at 5.30 p.m. on the 17th inst., passed the Three Kings at. noou on the; 21st, and reached Auckland at 11 a.in.ou the;22nd-, remained^ there until 3.15 p.m. on the ' 2-lth, when she pushed on for the south; called at Gisborne, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton, leaving the latter port at 3.15 on the S9th, arriv-' ing as above. From Sydney she experienced modetate winds with fine weather ind moderate1 sea until making the New Zealand coast, when she met southerly winds and sea, accompanied with hail and snow. squalls,' which increased in violence as she came down the-coast.
The s.s. Napier, with a cargo of timber from the feoath, arrived at the Rattray street wharf at 8,30 am. yesterday." She loft Waikawa at 5 p.m ■of Monday, and had stiong south-westerly winds with heavy snow squalls along the coast and to arrival.
The B.i' Gorinna left. the Rattray street wharf yesterday afternoon, with cargo and passengers for Lyttelton and Wellington The fcihaw.SavilV.and Alhion Company's steamer Maori will commence this forenoon to take on board frozen mutton. She will leave Port Chalmers on Thursday for the north. The vessel wh:ch arrived at Wellington on Monday from Liverpool was the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's ship Euterpe, , not the Enterprise. So far as we know there is no sailing ship of that name due at Wellington from Liverpool. ' ' Ihe barque Cynisca is to call at Otago Heads, for orderß from Capetown. The ship Nelson, for this port, via Algoa Bay," South Africa, was spoken on May 22, in lat. 4S N., long. BW.
