In consequence of the overcrowded state of the Luuatic Asylum, Dr MacGregor has beeu ' instructed to inspect Mount Cook Gaol with a view to its being utilised as an asylum. The Rtv. Ghkistchurch. July 30. A meeting of the Winter. Work JFand Committee was held to-day, whun it was "resolved to send a telegram to the Premier culling attention to the state of the labour market here; alto Cdllini; attenliou to the incorrect reports issued by the Labour Bureau. Over 500 men are being employed by the local bodies, and it 'U stated thnt over 700 ate emplojed altogether. It is further stated taut the fuiids iu hand will not hold out bejosd three weeks.
