Hill. mioe greatly diminished on Saturday, and the outlooir was so much brighter that it was believed the fire was practically under. However, when the operation of fighting the fire was resumed at coon to-day, at first apparently only steam was issuing, but when two shafts were opened smoke immediately issued in large volumes, and it is apparent that the fire is etill burning fiercely. The shafes wers at once closed and water apain turned oa. The fire is working from the northern to the southern portion of the mine. The heq of carbonic has not yet been retried.
