The s.s. Napier, with cargo from Invercargill, via Waikawa, arrived at the Eattray street wharf at 8 a.m. of Saturday. She left Invercargill at 2 p.m. of the 26th iust., and had N. W. winds with equally weather in Foveaux Strait; called at Waikawa, and left that port at 8 p.m.; had moderate winds with fair weatherto arrival. The Union Steam Ship Company's steamer V, aihora, Captain R. Neville, from Sydney, via Cook Strait, arrived at the tongue whatf at 7.45 a.m. of Saturday. , She left the company's wbarf at Sydney at 2.30 a.m.,of the 19th inst., and had light variable winds until noon of the following day; thence she experienced a succession of strong N.E. gales, and, owing to having valuable live stock on board, she wao compelled to heave to for 24 hours; she reached Wellington at 3.45 p.m. of the 24th inst, and left again at 830 p.m.; called ju Lyttelton, and left that port at noon of the 26th mat.; had fine weather down the coast, and reached headquarters as abova. The locally-owned barque Alcestis was to leave JSewcastle (New South Wales) on the 26fch inst. with a full cargo of coal for this port. Tne barque Acacia, formerly a monthly trader from Tasmania to Dunodin, has, we learn, been tt0!? 2 Purchased by our old friend Captain T. C. iierbert, who commanded her in the trade between Hobart and this port. The Acacia was one of the pruei in the Bank of Van Diemen's Land lottery and the price said to be paid for her by Captain Herbert is £700.
