The balance sheet of the Union Bank of Australia shows a profit of L 55.592. The deposits amount to L5,224;034; and the advances, together vriibbills receivable and discounted, to LIB.GSO.Oe?. The report of the directors states that careful investigation haa been made of "the bank's business, and, although a more hopeful feeling- exists1 with regatd to colonial afMra, it has beon deemed necesaary to make large reserves for doubtful- dependencies.
