CAVERSHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The regular meeting of the Caversham Borough Council w»b held on Thursday night, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr Sidey), Crs Bridgmau, Cole, Rustbn, M'Qonigal; Hancock, M'L&ren, Young, Bargees, and Rutherford. The Works and Baths Commitfcea reported havir.g iustrucfed the inspector to spread metal cs follows :—2syds on View street, Ecckyside ; 10yds oa High street; 12yda on Lindsay, road ; 12yds ou .Wr.verley, Broughtoa, and Eankeilor' streets; 30/ds on Cwstorphine road; arid 55yda on the Porbary road. The committee recommended that about two chains and a half i of th« foo6pa|.h on the south side of View street be kerbed, cost to be charged to property owners. They had infracted the inspector to report on the condition of the footpath in Aibert stoefc. (Th« Inspector reported in this 'connection that 3yds of screenings were reqmred;) In connection with relief works the committee had instructed tbe inspector to put on ?.sniany men as he could find room for in . the construction of the Forbury road footpath. The Finance Committee reported that £237 Is 5d had heea iodrfed in the bank, and recommended that £237 11s lOd be passed for payment of accounts. Having considered Messrs Kenyon s.nd Hopking's Utter, the committee recommacded that the council should not wgree to the draft deed submitted. Mr A. F. Lorie wrote that he intended to build on section 12, St. Clair Park, and requested that drain pipes might be laid from the present service to the fence line.—Referred to the Di-aitir.gH Corarnittea to report. The Secretary of the Unemployed Relief Work Associstion wrote that the men supplied to make the footpath on the road to St. Clair had been removed from there and engaged elsewhere. He atked that attention might be directed to the matter.—Received.

Cr Yates wrote tendering his resignation.— It was resolved—" That the council accept the reoignation with regret, and place on record its recognition of tbe faithful and valuable services, of Cr Ystes, and its appreciation of the straightforward'manner in which' he had at all times discharged bis dutieß as a councillor."
