THE SUPRISE PARTY.

There was a fairly large attendance at the City Hall last evening when Hessre Craydon and Wood's Surprise Party gave another of their enjoyable variety entertainments. A change of programme wa? presented, and taking it as a whole, it was quite as acceptable aa its predecessor. Mr Charles Hugo was particularly happy in his comic impersonations. He introduced a quantity of new ' matter " which moved the audience to frequent bursts of laughter, and he was recalled three times for one of his songs. Messrs Craydon and Woods were deservedly honoured with encorea for their double songs and dances. Mr Mr Charles J. Eryant was also very successful withhis items. Miss Marie Masters met with a cordial reception, and both her song* were redemanded. MUs Kuby Gordon, who sang " Bring back my fisher boy" and " Speak not her name," likewise created a most favourable impression, while the dancing of Miss Maggie Steen evoked an appreciative round of applauie. The orchestra, under the leadership of Mr J. H. Brown, acquitted itself satisfactorily. The entertainment was brought to a close by a farce called " Arrival c f Madame Melber with the New Boy," Mr Hugo appearing as the " New Boy." A change of programme nightly is announced.
