A STABBING CASE.

DOMESTIC DISAGREEMENTS.

A case of stabbing occurred abont half-past 4 yesterday afternoon. About that hour a woman named Emily 6h9a went into Hamilton's second-hand shop, in Maclaggan street. She was followed by her husband; i*eter John Shea, who said to her,.." What are you fl<r.ng here ? ,You are a7 — niea one." He: then produced^ penknife and' suddenly stabbed bia wife in the abdomen. He waß about to repeat the blow when Mr Hamilton, who was present, restrained him wiih some difficulty. -The police were sent for, and Constable M'Guire on arrival took the accused iuto custody. Constable Cooney took steps to immediately remove the injured woman to Dr Colquhoun's residence. It was found that she was suffering from a wound in the left fide ot the abdomen, sod after receiving medical attention she was removed to her home, in Adam street, off Bassell street. Although the wound is not regarded aa dangerous Mrs Shea had a narrow escape, for had not the knife struck the whalebone in her corset it would have penetrated much deeper than it did. Shea was under the | influence of drink at the tim». His relations with his wife have for some time past heen much strained, aud in fact a deed of separation / between the parties was to have been presented' | for signature to the court on Thursday next. I Accused will be charged with the offence this I morning, but, as Mrs Shea will be unable to : appear, a remand will be applied for.
