Auckland, February 21,
Mr Crowther, M.H.R., addressed the electors of Auckland to-night at the City Hall. The mayor presided. Mr Crowther reviewed, the principal bills introduced but not passed, and referred to their various features. The banking bills, he said, should never have been brought before the House. He had voted independently. He supported the Government, as he did not see another set of men to take their places. He thought the Tariff aud Licensing Acts should not be touched in view oE the falling revenue. He received a vote of thanks and confidence.
Napier, February 21. Major Sommerville, the executive officer oE the New Zealand Rifle Association, has arranged wilih the Union Steam Ship Company to grant saloon return fares to all southern competitors at the annual "Bisley," which opens at Trentham on March 14, for 255. The Union Compnny have also gratuitously given the winner of the Uniou Company's Cup, now and in future, a free pass between Lyttelton and Wellington. Gray, of the Duaedin Club, is the present holder of the cup. Mr George Baggot has been appointed local secretary iu Wellington. Thebronze medals recently iuaugurated are to be presented at the same time as the other prizes.
Wanganui, February 21.
The corporation baths, with a water area of 80ft x 40ft, well appointed in every particular, were publicly opened to-d;»y, iu the presence of a large assembly, by the Mayor (Mr F. K. Jackson). After declaring the baths open, his Worship took a header into the water amidst loud plaudits, and a sports programme was then gone through.

Judgment for defendants on both counts, with costs, was given by Mr Justice Richmond to-day in the case of Braund v. tho Union Bank of Australia, two claims of £1000 each for alleged wrongful dismissal and alleged breach of contract.
Mr J. M. Goldfinch, accountant to the Police department, died to-day. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fvaiciuity.
