THK DIRECT STEAMERS.
Hobart, December 27.—Arrived: Uimutaka, from London, ria the Cape, at 9 o'clock this morning. She leaves for Wellington at 7 o clock p.m. The Rimutaka brings 18 passengers for Australian ports and has 175 for New Zealand.
The b.c. Tarawera left the tongue wharf yesterday afternoon with passengers and cargo for Sydney, via Cook Strait. Thes.s. Herald left Dunedin wharf last night for the West Coast, via intermediate-ports. The barque Firth of Forth has put out some SGO tons of her Dunedin cargo at the cross wharf. It is turning out in capital order. ■-■■ . ' The ship Blenheim put out some more heavy lifts at the cross wharf yesterday. The s.s. Brunner took in cargo for the West Coast yesterday, and leaves Dunedin this afternoon. ■ '~,,, The P. and O. Company's new steamship Caledonia has made the record passage between Bombay and Brindisi. Her passage from Bombay (including stoppages) only occupied 10 days and six hours, and is the fastest on record. The barque Glenlora left London for Dunedm on November 11. The N.Z S. Company's ship Rongitiki, Captain Pottinger, was on the berth at London for this port on November 16. Copenhagen was formally declared a free port at 9 a.m. of November 9, and at the same time in accordance with the Free Port Act the dues of B0 ore per ton, which incoming vessels were bound to pay, were abolished in all Danish ports. The letters "TMRH" of the commercial code have been allotted by the Registrar-general of Shipping to the schooner Huia, of Auckland. The stern-wheel steamer lona was towed up from the lower harbour yesterday forenoon and berthed at the Stuart street jetty. The s.s. Invercargill was taken into the graving dock yesterday morning for cleaning and repainting.
