WOMEN'S FRANCHISE LEAGUE. TO THK EDITOR.
iSm, —I have boon waiting for gome notice of the really remnrkahitt speech of Mrs Hattonat the Fesusln Fmucbise (obtained) League meeting, but apparently Mrs Besant and Mr J. Neil have tu&u'md to absorb the attention of the community. The speech itself is splendid and truly feminine in its little side hits and quiet tays hero and there. "They have r balance not on paper"—"They want to know if ther« are any statesmen "—ia putting ou the velvet glove; but the threat taut if male representatives ■will not do what they want female representatives will shows. distinctly! the iron band beneath. Tha political developments hinted at ate of a very important and serions kind. It is absolutely certain that girls with votes will not be conteuted wifih wages of 10s and 12a per week on which fshsy cannot'honestly support themselves, and the female wage question and its solution promises to be the burning 'question of the next «lection. How any settlement is to bo arrived at unless through some form of Socialism I.would.ask Mrs Hatfcon or any other person to tell ?—I am, &0., October 29. Pdzzlbd.
