* Port Chalmers v. Dunedin.—This match-sue aside—had been arranged for last Saturday, but only five managed to come from the Port, and to make matters worse, only four town players put in an appearance. This, of course, took away the interest -from the contest. The players paired, however, and the result was a decisive victory for the Port by 9 to 1, Messrs Montgomery, Davidson, Hornby, and H. Holden defeating Messrs Sha\v, Abemethy, Blackwood, and Trainer, paired inthe order named. ■„"■,',, i j a Draughts Association—On play being concluded in tho match Port v. Dunedin, Mr bhaw was voted to the chair, and the formation of an Otago Droughts Association was discussed. As the hour was. too late to permit of details or rules being dealt with, a committee was formed of the following gentlemen, with power to add to their number—Messrs Shaw (convener), Montgomery, Davidson, Blackwood, Abemethy (lion, fee. pro tern), G. Holden, Trainer, Hornby, and H. Holden. A public meeting is to be called lor November 3, to draft ruies, &c, which will be submitted to a town, nnd country meeting during the time of the Otago A. and P. Show. Country players will please observe tins. Something of Interest-We Melbourne Weedy Times) have been authorised by Mr J. P. Moore, of Melbourne, and his friends to try and arrange a restricted draughts match of 3*2 games, for a stake of £15 or £20 aside, with Mr D. A. Brodie, of Dunedin, the champion of New Zealand. Mr Moore is willing to give or take £5 for expenses. Mr Moore is a native of Victoria, and just over 2.* veins of ag*. bhould the match come off, it will rrrite a great deal of interest throughout the colonies have written to Mr Brodie by the out-going mail.-[Mr Brodie is away from Dunedin at present, but the letter, whichwascare of the draughts editor, has been forwarded to him.
