The railway revenue for the four weeks ending June 23 amounted to £76,329 Is Id for the 1947 miles open. The expenditure was £55,844- 4s Bd, the percentage of expenditure to revenue being 6438. The revenue for the Hurunui-Bluff line was £43,541 5s 2d, and the expenditure £30,230 17s Id. Tho passengers show a decrease, compared with tho same period last year, in everything but season tickets, the total being 95,858, and goods show a decrease of 48,752 tons.
The postal revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was £50,941 against £48,301 for the same period last year. . The telegraph revenue was £29,551 against ' £29,612, exclusive oJ Government telegrams.
Amongst the notices in the Gazette is an acknowledgment of the receipt of £1 by the Treasury, with a note saying it was for unpaid customs duty; also a statement of the colony's accounts for the quarter ended March 31 and tor the* whole year.
