ROSLYN PARLIAMENTARY UNION.

A meeting of the Roslyn Parliamentary Union was held in the Council Chambers, Roslyn, last night, Mr A. H. Burton presiding, Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs A. Matheson, N. Y. A. Wales, and J. B. Callan, all of whom were unable to attend.

Thirty-two persons who had signified their willingness to join the union were enrolled as

members. A draft of rules, by-laws, and standing orders, which had been drawn up by a committee previously appointed for the purpose, was considered and adopted with slight amendments. The rules provided inter alia that the name of the union be called the Roslyn Parliamentary Union; that the object of the union be the discussion of political, municipal, and social questions ; that the union consist of 40 representative rnembsrs, and other members to whom the council may allot constituencies as vacancies occur; that the union meet once a week from Hay to August (inclusive); such period to constitute the session; but it should Be in the power of the House by resolntion to eiterid the session or to adjourn for a longer or shorter time than one week.

The following office-bearers wero elected

Speaker, Mr N. Y. A. Wales; Chairman of Committees, Mr J. B. Callan; Clerk of the Honse, Mr Magnus Thompson; Treasurer, Mr A. Matheson; Council—Messrs A. H. Burton, •T. Fraser, and P. Flynn. It was decided that the first meeting of the union be held on the 10oh of May, provided that the council do not find it necessary to postpone the meeting for a week.
