Walton. — Messrs T. Howorth, M'Neill, Cook, M'Grath, William Martin jun., Touner, and Smith, The annual report, submitted by Mr Thomas Howorth, stated that the average attendance for the year was 96. It had been all;cted considerably by the epidemic of measles, and in May the school was closed for some weeks. Mr Goyen, who examined the school, reported that the infant department did their work in a very satisfactory manner, and on the whole that the order, attention, and manners were very good. The committca again had the pleasure of recording on their minutes that the results of the examination were highly satisfactory, and a vote of thanks at the earns time was sent to the head master (Mr Fraser) and mistress (Miss Mills) for the excellent work done during the year. At the junior scholarship examination two of the scholars succeeded in securing free education at the Dunedin High School. The receipts for the year were £68 17», expenditure £54 103 6d, balance in hand £14 6s 6d. The report of the librarian (Mr W. Martin, jun.) for tbe year was also read and adopted.
