DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. Weekly Report.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report »3 follows:—

The entry for our sale on Saturday was a large one and was made up chiefly of draughts, very few light horses being forward, and those that were met with very little attention. Draughts, on the other hand, were well competed for, and this was because sellers intimated that they were prepared to meet the times and accept reduced values, and also because the horses were particularly adapted for present requirements. They were comprised principally of strong, active, and fairly young medium draught mares and geldings suitable for town drays or farm work, and they, with the exception of some half-dozen, were all taken up in abont equal numbers by town and country buj era., Light and inferior draughts although not so well competed for nevertheless were all disposed of at current values. Our Bales were : On behalf of Mr Henry Bradley, a team of 9 useful draught mares and geldings at from £15 to £19 10s; on account of Mr A. Aitcheson (Herbert), 6 medium and light draught colts arid fillies at from £16 to £11; on behalf of Mr W. O'Bryan, 18 draught mares and geldings at up to £15; and on account of Mr R. Orr and othere, 25 draught mares and geldings and broken and unbroken light horses at. current rates. We quote: First-class draughts (extra heavy), £25 to £30; good ordinary draughts (young), £18 to £22: medium draughts, £12 to £16; aged draughts, £6 to £10; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £18; medium hacks and harness horses, £7 to £9; light and inferior hacks and harness horses, £2 10s to £5. ________
