SOIREES AT CATLINS.
The annual soirees of the Presbyterian congregations at Tahatika, Purekireki, and Ahuriri were held on tho 20th, 21st, and 22nd Februarr respectively. All the meetings were well attended. At Tahatika the passage was blocked with people who could not get into the schoolroom. Mies Flamank presided at the organ and led tho Tahatika Choir of 20 voices, which acquitted itself in a highly creditable manner. Mr Robert Tapp conducted the Purekireki Ohoir, which sang well. Mr William M'Clelland led the singing at Ahuriri. The Rev. Mr M'Laren, the pastor, presided at all the meetings and read the general report, which showed that during the year 9 infants had been baptised. The number of communicants at the end of the financial year was 137, only 49 of whom had their names on the roll when the present minister commenced his pastorate. During the year 10' persons had been received into full membership after examination, 12 in tha district proper and 4 in the outfield. Six have been received by certificate from other congregations. Six have been disjoined, 5 by certificate and 1 otherwise. There is thus a net gain of 16, the largest number for many years. The financial report showed that a total Df .£230 0a 7d had been raised during the year. I'he large sum of £1810s 6d had been contributed towards home and foreign missions. At Tahatika the speakers were Revs. Kilpatrick and Spence; it Purpkireki, Revs. Spence and M'Laren; at iVhuriri, Revs. Dalrymple and Currie. All the iddressea were highly appreciated. At the close ,he usual votes of thanks were accorded.
