At Flemington this morning Patron romped over Portsea in a mile gallop, the time registered being lmin 48isec; whilst The Arab cantered away from Kingbolt, covering six furlongs in lmin 20£ sec. Private advices from Ballarat favour Brother--7 ton's chance for the Newmarket Handicap, but l Elswick is under a slight olond. Wakawatea is credited with having traversed a really excellent six furlongs at Caulfield on Saturday. 3 Batting has been brisk at Bowes's Tattersalls > to-day. 'After 1200 to 90 had been taken about - Fortunatus, 1000 to 80 was offered. Horawas - supported to win £2000 at 100 to 6/ and a wager a of 1000 to 65 was taken about Lord i, Hopetoun, and one of >100 to 6 about J Capstan; 600 to 24 was accepted about 3 Tullamore, and about Keen 500 to 25 c was taken, the betting closing with 1000 to SO c offered and 1000 to 45 wanted.
