THE WAIPORI RIVER. Our Waipori correspondent writeß :— " The nanager of the Jutland Flat dredge having relorted that he had received notice from his lirectors .that the Government declined to prolaim the Waipori river a receptacle for tailings, , meeting of the Miners' Association was held last 'hursday night, when the secretary was instructed o wire urgent to Wellington, pressing the importnee of having the river so declared. The follow^ as wire was received from the Mines department he following day: -' Afraid excessive amount of . laims for compensation will prevent the tioveraaent doing what you require.'" ' The secretary of the Jatland Flat (Waipori) ( iold Mining Company (Limited) reports for week , nding 21th February:—" 270z 15dwt gold for XU , outs' wages time, 141 hours' actual dredging. , Mr Thomas Oallender reports fl7oz 6dwt lOgr ■ Ported gold from the Sew Hoy Big Beach Gold ' lining Company (Limited) for week ending Satur- < ay, the 21th Inst.
