PALMERSTON SALE.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report ,38 follows:— We held our usual monthly sale at M'Kay's yards, Palmerston, yesterday (20th inst.), when there was a full entry of stock, ratber more ihan 1000 crossbred sheep and 105 head of cattle being penned. There was a satisfactory attendance of buyers, considering that very many farmers are engaged with their harvest at the present time, and the whole of the Btock forward changed hands at very full values. Four-tooth crossbred wethers realised from 10s (id to 11s; ■two-tooth crossbred wethers, 10a; two-tooth halftired wethers, 8s to 9s ; farm crossbred lambs, 7s 6d; cull crossbred lambs (off tussock), 4s '3d; and one small lot of very old merino ewes, Is. For cattle the following prices were obtained:—Half and three parts fat three and four-year-old bullocks, £6 to £7 3s; 12 to 18-months old steers and heifers, £24s to £3 83 Bd ; dry cows, £i 83 6d to £6; and eowa coming to calve up to £7. The sale was the best that has been held in the disj trict since last autumn, and a much larger number of crossbred wethers and cattle than was forward could readily have been placed.
