SOUTH DUNEDIN.
The ordinary meeting of the South Dunedin Borough Council, held last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr E. Oaborne), Crs Fisher, Scott, Fiddis, Holley,. Smith; M'Kay, Baker, and Marlow. .. • . , 1 Mr J. Jennings wrote stating that he had broken the axle of his drag in passing over tha tram rails. The repairs had cost him jEI 15s, and he claimed £2 tor loss of time.—On tbe motion of Cr Fisher it was resolved to refer the letter to the Tramway Company to deal with. Mr Ray, chief clerk for the Minister for Labour, wrote asking if the provisions of " The Servants Registry Offices Act 1592" were carried out, and if the borough had any difficulty in enforcing such act.—Received. A letter from Mr James M'lndoe, asking for information, was received. The Finance Committee recommended that accounts be passed for payment to the amount of i' 37 9s Sd. The water supply accounts passed for payment amounted to £161) 2s 2d.—Adopted. The Fire Brigade Committee recommended that for the future the town clerk be Instructed to clear the Council Chambers at the rising of the committee.—Adopted. . ■ The Water Committee recommended that John Davidson be appointed water inspector vice A. G. Price.—Held over. . . ;
Cr Scott moved that the clerk be instructed to write to the sergeant of police drawing his attention to the intolerable nuisance of persons allowing their cows to wander on the footpath.— Carried. i
