At thu Vincent J.C. races one or two fair dividends were paid, the amount put through the machine for two days being £1511. Crystal won the Maiden Trot, paying £21 3s; Lobo (£1 8s) won the Maiden Plate; Lupus (£1 ss) the Ophir and (£3 Is) the Matakanui Handicaps; Wizard (£6 19s) the Two Miles and a-Half Trot; Lady (£5 ss) the Stewards' Handicap; Gazelle (£8 12s) the J.O. Handicap; Dainty (£2 2s) the Selling Stakes; Jack the Flat (£l3 19s) the Hack Handicap; Old Judge the Novel Selling Trot; 801 l Tinker the Three-mile Trot; Mascotte (£2 2s) the Novel Handicap; Norah (£1 11s) the Stewards' Trot; Verepic (£3 9s) the Consolation. The sab-committee appointed at the last ■meeting of the Amateur Rowing Association to censider the question of tho appointment of a council and local officers have furnished a report. They recommend that the council consist of seven members, who shall decide all questions and disputes arising out of the interpretation of rules, protests, or any other matters referred by any club to the association for decision. They also recommend that officers be appointed to watch the interests of the associs.tion at the principal rowing centres, to_ supervise regattas in their respective districts, to enforce observance of the association's mles thereat, and to nse their influence to induca eligible clubs to affiliate themselves to the association. At the Pahiatua races 1500 people were present. Morag won the J. C. Handicap, paying £3 9s, with Silent Mend second and Makomako third. Merryman won the Flying Handicap, paying £6 2s, and the Trial Handicap, £8 10s; Makomako the Stewards' Stakes, £110s ; Spreydon the High Weight Handicap, £117s, and also the Hurdles, £116s. Pnrepo and Haeata have been scratched for the Wellington Cap.
