Monday, November 27. . j (Before Mr E. H. Carew, R.jtf.) ■ Butter worth Brothers v. John A. Fischer (New Plymouth).—Claim £S 2s 7d, for goods supplied.— Mr Hosking appeared for the plaintiffs, for whom judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs. Henry Byron v. John Lawson.—Claim £1 4s, for a week's wages as boots at the Gridiron Hotel, and a week's wages in lieu of notice.—Mr Meatyard appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Solomon for the defendant, who paid 6s into court—From the evidence it appeared that the plaintiff broke a picture, and defendant discharged him from his employ on the ground that he was drunk.—Defendant admitted that he had two tumblers of whisky early in the morning, but said he was perfectly sober.-^-His Worship gave judgment for the defendant, and observed that he thought thei-e^i was no doubt that plaintiff was drunk, and that defendant was justified in discharging him. Moss and' Fargio v. J. Higgs (Stratford).— Claim £23, for goods supplied.—lt appeared that since the issue of the summons the defendant forwarded a cheque to the plaintiff, which was dishonoured. He also applied to have his evidence taken at Stratford, and paid into court the balance of the amount due and costs of the summons.—Dr Fitchett, who appeared for the plaintiffs, applied for costs. —His Worship, however, refused to allow costs, and gave judgment for the defendant. M'Kerrow, Lees, and Co. v. Julieu Bordeau.— Claim £57 4s, on dishonoured promissory notes.— Mr Stilling appeared for the plaintiffs, for whom, judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs, in the absence of the defendant. The Executors of John Edmond v. Henry Guthrie and H. H. Inglis (as executors of Peter Dey).—Claim .£35 2s 3d. for goods supplied to the Bhip Alcestis.—Mr W. Macgregor appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr Finch for the defendants.— After evidence, his Worship reserved judgment.
