SPORTING.
All the horses at the Forbury are doing good work, and the races are more open than at most of the meetings. Response promises to be fancied for the Otago Cup. She is looking particularly well. Dilemma also is coming into favour with the touts, while Clanranald aad Prime Warden are sure to be well backed, and Skirmisher, Rangipuhi, and Melinite have warm I admirers. The Cup is the most open of any big ' event run at the Forbury for years past. The < course is in good order. At a meeting, last evening, of the committee c of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club, Dr J Roberts presiding, certain details in connection ? with the annual sports meeting, to be held on I the 9th of December, were arranged. It was c decided to engage the Kaikorai Band for the C afternoon. Notice was received from the New o Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that D. tl Duncan would be reinstated as from the Ist of December. Messrs F. de Lisle and W. a 1 3hiffey were elected members of the club. aj The Otago Lawn Tennis Club opened their di ;rass courts on Saturday afternoon last.
