AN ELECTION QUESTION. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—l was always led to believe that when a Roman Catholic lady took the veil and entered a convent, taking vows as a nun, her connection with the world outside that convent ceased.

I was a good deal surprised to find that no less than 40 odd of these sisters have their names on the supplementary roll, evidently with the intention of voting at the comiug election. I was still more surprised to find that the Government had arranged that St. Joseph's Girls' Schoolroom should be a polling booth, evidently for their accommodation as it adjoins the convent. I wonder if Sir Patrick Buckley's recent visit to Dunedin and to the bishop had anything to do with the latter.—l am, &c, Dunedin, November 22. No State Aid.
