THE CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.
TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —On reading the report of the Dunedin Bicycle Club I was very much surprised to see that it has been decided to hold the Championship meeting on the Carisbrook ground. Now in.niy opinion this is a great mistake for several reasons. First, the track cannot be compared with the Caledonian. It may bo right enough for our cyclists who are used to it, but we must cousider our visitors—for instance, those who are used to Lancaster Park. Second, the gate ihoney wil! not be so large, as there will be hundreds viewing the spoits from the hill, and there, is no hill at the Caledonian ground. Third, if the weather is at all inclement ofi the day of the spoits, look at the commodioiisgrant! stand on the Caledonian ground. It may not be as pretty a ground as Carisbrook, but it is equally as good for viewing the sports from the ground. I have no interest in the Caledonian ground, but write merely as a spectator, and one who has seen all but one of the Championship meetings in New Zealand, and one who wishes this meeting to be a success. lam not even a member of any bicycle club.—l am, &c, Dunedin, October 25. Wellwisiier.
