Special Advertisements. WHOLESALE WINE DEPOT (Down Right-of-Way), Octaoos Buildings, Dunedin. .1. WENDEL, Of Auckland, the Well-known Manufacturer of PURE GRAPE WINES, Has arrived in Dunedin with a Large Assortment of hia Celebrated Wines, which can beobtained at the above address. These Wives are pure and unadulterated, entirely free from added alcohol or any deleterious ingredient. In this matter he detles any statements that may have been made to the contrary. J. W. warrants all his Wines equal to the samples analysed by Prof. Black, whose report is subjoined. ' : Pure and Nourishing Grape Wines reduced in price to bring them within the reach of all. A boon to invalids and others. • £T GIVE WENDEL'S WINES A TRIAL. ANALYSIS OF WINES PRODUCED BY J. WENDEL, OF AUCKLAND. [Copt.] University Laboratory, Dunedin, July 19th, ISS3. I have submitted to carefulanalysis five samples of Wendel's New Zealand Wines, and find the same to be a genuine product of the grape. The alcoholic strength ranges from 9 per cent, to 12 per cent, by volume, and the alcohol is all quite natural to the Wine itself without the addk tion of any malt or grain spirit. In this important respect the Wines are much tojbe preferred to the fortified sherries and ports imported from Europe. The samples analysed were labelled :— : No. I—New Zealand Dark Grape Wine. , No. 2—New Zealand Light Graps AVine No. 3—New Zealand Sparkling Rhine Wine. X-fo. 4—New Zealand Sparkling Champagne Wine. No. sr-New Zealand Quinine Grape Wine. No. 1 is sweet Wine, with a very weak acid reaction. J»os. 2 and 3 have a more pronounced degree of acidity, quite natural to wines of their class, and agreeable) to the palate. The acidity of No. :> is entirely due to the carbonic acid'generated by the fermentation, and quite characteristic of genuine Sparkliug Wines, as also of Champagne. No. 4 is a good genuine Champagne. No. 5 contains about 20 grains of sulphate of quinine per gallon, and this of course gives it excellenttonic properties. The alcoholic strength of this Wine is !) per cent. None of these wines contain anything in the slightest degree injurious to health. Indeed, it is n rare pleasure to meet with Wines of so genuine a character. I have therefore great pleasure in recommending them to the public. ■ They ought to supersede the imported Wines with their IS to 21 per cent, of alcohol (one-half of which at l«-ast is added), their sulphate of lime, colouring- matters, alum, and other impurities. 2o (Signed) JAMES G. BLACK.
