ZiN-iiAia-RiciiMOXD.—ln the (irst spell, after some give-and-take play, Mackenzie ran in for the Dunedin, but Taiaroa failed in his effort to convert the try. Kaikokai ll.—ln the first spell the Taieri, playing against the wind, put their opponents on tho defensive, and a try was obtained by Gibson, but Ids kick at goal was unsuccessful. Du.vkihx ll.—ln tho first spell tho Dunedin, playing from the harbour end, forced their opponents down, but before half-time Smcaton ran smartly in for the "ragmen," and Hutchinson converted; and after some further amusing play another try was obtained for the Warehousemen, which was also converted. In the second spell both teams were completely "baked," and the play was of ft most diverting description. Two further tries for the Warehousemen were scored, and one was converted, the softgoods men having tho victory by 11 points to £ point. I'tKATES Iv. Pacific ll.—ln the first spell the i'irates played with the wind, and Morris took n pass from Gran splendidly, and ran in. Priest failed with it difficult kick, and was similarly unsuccessful immediately afterwards when line obtained a try at the corner. In the second spell there was no further score, but the play was principally iv the Pirates' half of the ground. Tho Pacific were defeated by 4 points to ml. SKCOXD HOUND. Umvek.sity Iv. Taieki ll.—ln the first spell the University, playing from the harbour end, were defending, when Porteous with a loug kick sent the ball to the other end, and the Taieri were compelled to force down. Shortly afterwards the bull was again taken over the Taieri line, and the latter's full back, to save the force, kicked, but the b;dl went to Porteous, who simply dropped over tbo line with it. Tho kick was unsuccessful, but Porteous did not fail in his endeavour to convert a try obtained by Collins, who made a slashing run rightround the opposing team. In the second spell, after some give and take play, Platts scored a further try for the University, and, the score not being enhanced and no -additions! points being obtained, the Blues won by 7-.', points to nil. Union- il v. University ll.—ln this match there was no score in the lirst spell, but after crossing Over to the harbour end the Union pressed their opponent!:, and in a scramble a try was obtained by Douglas, which Burnside converted ; and this was supplemented by a force down, to which the 'Varsity had to resort, tho Union wiuning bj 3i pointl! to nil. Hirui Scuool v. Mki.kosk.—The Melrose, playing for the first spell against tho wind, put the High School on tho defensive, and speedily obtained a try, which was not enhanced, and before half time they had compelled their opponents to touch c'own in self-defence. In the second spell Gregg ran in for the School, but the try was not improved, ami another try, which also was not converted, was secured-for the Melrose. Then, just before tho call, of time, Gregg agaiu scored lor the School, and the try not being improved, the Melrose won by 4A points to 4-. Auiammiu v. Pacific I.—ln this mat-'h the Pacific played for the first spell from the harbour end, but almost immediately after the play was starteil the juniors were farced duwn, mid before half time Johnston obtained a try lor the Alhamlira, which wag not improved. In the second spell the Pacific were twice forced down, but there was no other score in what was on the whole, a disappointing match, which the Alhainbra won by 4i- points to nil. Pi hates II v. KAVEN.si:oi;iixE.—ln the first spell of an amusing match the only score was a force down to the Pirates ; hut in the second spell Mathoson and M'Donald obtained tries for the latter, both of which Brow.] converted, the Pirates winning by 6£ points to nil. Kaiicohailv. Union I.—The. latter scratched themselves, and the Kaikorai obtained a bye in consequence. Dunkdix Iv. Taieri I.—ln the first spell the Dunedin, ploying with the wind, forced the Taieri down twice ; and in the second spell, Sullivan ran in for the Blue-, and Taiaroa converted, making the score 4 points to the Dunedin against nil, and this was the tally wheu the game terminated. I'ikatks I v. Waheiiouskjikn.—The Pirates played with the wind in their favour for the lirst spell, which produced a try to them, obtained by Gran, followed by one secured by Morris, who showed the opposing players a cleau pair of heels, neither score being enhanced. Iv the second spell the AVarehousemen made matters lively, and Hutchinson scored a try, which was improved with a splendid kick by the same player ; but later on, Johnston, breaking away from a line out, ran in without opposition for tho Pirates, who won by 6 points to 3. THIRD ROUND. University I v. Union ll.—The University played for the first spell from the harbour end, and some fine passing between Montgomery, Ross, and Porteous resulted iv tho latter obtaining a try which he himself converted. Later on, some more fine passing on the part of Montgomery, Platts, and Porteous produced another try to the latter, whose kick was again successful. Iv the second spell the Union pressed their opponc-nts, and Barr obtained a try, which was not improved, and the 'Varsity won by 6 points to 2. Ai.iUMiiuA v. Piratks ll.—The latter, who had only six men, Matheson having, been hurt in the first match, were no match for their redoubtable opponents, who in the first spell scored two tries, obtained by Ross and Crawshaw, one being converted by Esquilant, and a force down. Iv the second spell Baker and Johnston secured additional tries, and one was converted by Johnston, the Alhambra winning by 10-i- points to nil. Kaiuohai I v. Duxki.ix 1. —In the first spell there was no score, and in the second a force down was recorded against the Dunedin. ihis was the only score, and the Kaikorai won a tight, uninteresting game by £ point to nil. i iij.vtks v. Kaikohai I.—The play had hardly been started before Duncan, for the Kaikorai, obtained a try, which Laurensou converted, and before half time Millar secured another try, which was not enhanced.
