Total. 501 311 60 123 102 d The Metropolitan Building and Investment Society of Wellington have declared a dividend at the rate of 7i per cent, per annum. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram from their London ollice, dated 17th August:—" Wheat and Flour: Harvest prospects are promising; market inactive and depressed. New Zealand wheat, long-berried, is worth 32s (id per 4i161b; average is worth 30s (id per 4!llilb ; New Zealand wheat, f.a.q., is worth, c.i.f. to arrive, 30s per 4801b. _^_^____

The Lyttelton Times reports :—"Fat Shoop : 'Ilia eutrv was limited in uxtont, and was very mixed in respect of quality, the hulk consisting of merino wethers, a good 111:1113- cf which were of very second-rate finality. A »ood demand existed for properly finished merino wethers, which realised from His to 15s (id, hut several lines of inferior quality sold at from Ss lid to Us. and a ntinilier were withdrawn. 'I'll.! sale was limited in extent as regarded cr..ssl.red wethers and maiden ewe.s fnr export, l.ut anything of special finality ware, appropriated by buyers for export lit little or no difference from recent quotations; wethers selling at from ISs lo 2l's h'd, and lines of wrthers and maiden cms at from 17s to 2<)s !ld. There were only a lew crossbred ewes offered, and they realised from 15s U to 17s, and one or two potia of prime quality snl.l at a trifle above this.
