MR FISH'S PETITION.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —I notice by an advertisement in your paper that memorials are in circulation for the purpose of protesting against the proposed female franchise. I see no objection to any fair and reasonable effort on the part of canvassers to get as many names thereto as possible, but I regret to learn that the experiences of the book fiends are being utilised in procuring names—viz., misrepresentations. Canvassers should distinctly state that names are invited against woman franchise, but it appears thatin many instances the canvasser merely states that his memorial is "on the female franchise question" ; and I am credibly informed several names have been obtained that would have been emphatically refused were the subject matter of the memorials properly mentioned. It is to be hoped that you will use your influence to gee that such conduct will receive proper reprobation.— I am, &c, March 31. Dkoit.
