At a meeting of the shareholders of the Moltau Coal Company to-night a resolution was carried in favour of forming a defence fund to meet any claims that might bo brought against the company by Mr J. M'Cleland, who holds a mortgage over tho plant, or by the

liquidator. Several Bpeakerg deelarod that tho company (of which the levanting A. \V. Brown was ahairman) had not been properly organisodi and that none of tha directors have held the nccefißary sharea (BO) to qualify them for thu position, Others alleged thoso posing as directors were responsible for the liabilities incurred. Nothing was said as to sarrying on work at the mine.
