Sailed: Pukaki and Dingadee for Westport; Herald and Takapuna, for Wellington. Tekapo^ for southern ports and Melbourne. Passengers: For Dunedin — Misses Stewart (2), Smith, Mesdames Edwards, Montague (and child), Messrs Shorten and Hall. For Melbourne—Mesdames Mackie, Rudd (and child), Messrs Mackie, Duke, Warren, Orchard, Armstrong. GREYJtouTH, March 23.—Sailed : Rosamond, for Dunedin.
London, March 22.—Arrived: Matatua, from Lyttelton (January 16). Sydney, March 23.—Arrived: Waimate, from Hokianga. Melbourne, March 23.-The Mararoa sailed yesterday for the Bluff.
_ The s.s. Pakeha discharged a quantity of cargo into the railway trucks yesterday. The s.s. Brunner, from the north, arrived yesterday evening and passed the Port to Dunedin.
w^Su G- §L lyth ¥ th? agent for the barlue Northern Star, which left Dunedin on Tuesday tor Port Pirie, via Greymouth. Yesterday being Anniversary Day, there was no work done among the shipping at the Dunedin wharves.
The s.s. Manapouri steamed down to Port Chalmers yesterday lorenoon, and after embarking passengers and mails left in the afternoon for Sydney, via the East Coast ports. _Thersliip -City of; Glasgow lots- the' ClydtT pn February.l 7 for Dunedin wharf. The American barque Mary E. Russell left New York for this port on March 1.. The ship Nelson, Captain Bannatyne, left London in February for Dunedin. The s.s. Star of Victoria, one of the Tyser line was loading at London for this port on February 5. .
The American brigantine Motley, for Dunedin and Auckland, was spoken on January 9 in lat. 5N., long. 25 W. The London Shipping Exchange (a long felt want) has been registered as a limited company, and the first meeting of its directors was held on February 2. The list of firms, or representatives of firms who have applied to be enrolled as original members, comprises nearly 500 names During the month of January 56 sailing vessels, registering 15,783 tons, and 10 steamers, registero^oon 1? 7 tonS) makin S a total of 66 vessels, with AoSO tons, were reported as wrecks to the Board of Trade. The number of lives lost in connection witn these wrecks was 148. The schooner Isabella Anderson left Dunedin yesterday forenoon for Kaipara, via Lyttelton.
