EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION. TO TIIE EDITOIt. Sin, —Kindly allow me through your columns to heartily tbank those 61 committees who voted for me at the late election, also those others who would have done so only for the false report that I had withdrawn from the contest. Though a new strain of blood has been imported into the Education Board, still there is absent from it that element which either Mr Reid's or my own election would have supplied. As " old masons make the best barrowmen," so old teachers should practically know more about the administration of many educational matters thtm the mere theorisor. Bowing to the decision of the committees in the la to, and trusting to receive a more liberal support in the future election, —I am, &c, Middlemarch, March 22. Robert Nbill. \ WONDERFUL SALE. 84,790 Waterburys in Four Years. Nobody has ever credited the enormous sale of the Waterbury Watch in the colony, and few, if any, could be found to believe that 20,000 Waterburys per annum have been disposed of for over four years without in the least lessening the demand or sullying the reputation of the watch. The following four firms alone testify to the sale of nearly one-half the total disposed of, 11,952. Wellington, 24th October 1891. We find that eighty-three gross (11,952) Waterburys have been sent out by our AVellington warehouse. Every satisfaction is expressed that such reliable timekeepers are procurable so cheaply. Kempthobne, Prosser, & Co. (Limited). 9360. Auckland, 25th September 1891. We have sold 65 gross (9360) Waterbury Watches. Customers generally express themselves in terms of unqualified approval. E. Porter & Co. 9000 Dunedin, 10th November 1891. We have sold close on 9000 Waterburys, and the demand still keeps up. We have pleasure in testifying to the excellent character these watches have earned. New Zealand Hardware Company (Limited). 4320 Christchurch, 29th September 1891. Of 360d0z (4320) Waterbury Watches sold by su, the almost unanimous opinion is that for strength and correct timekeeping the AVaterbury is unsurpassed . E. Rbece & Sons. "POLITICAL CONTRASTS. The Hon. John Ballance. Sir Harry Atkinson. Sir Julius Vogel. Opinions on political matters are legion— everybody has an opinion of some sort. Some think that Ballance and his party are the willing instruments of the evil one; others , think them the only men capable of ushering in that era of unexampled prosperity termed by someenthusiasts the Working Men's Millennium; others, again, are loud in their praises of the author of the Public Works Policy, whilst ' others clamour for Sir Harry Atkinson; but one and all are unanimous in pronouncing Buchanan's House of Commons Whisky "the Purest and Best in the market." THE season for planting spring flowering j bulbs having now arrived, I take an early opportunity of reminding my patrons of the fact that early autumn planting is imperative for a brilliant display of these harbingers of spring. Usually planting is delayed until ] winter, when the soil is cold and wet. thus giving the bulbs little or no chance to make the amount of roots necessary to produce robust J flowers. Those who saw my spring bulbs when ] in bloom last season were amazed at the • luxuriant growth and the strength of the flowers, especially growing in such an exposed . position as they were, unprotected from the severe south-west gales so prevalent in spring. ! Success was principally due to early autumn ' planting and discarding such varieties as were found to produce poor flowers or foliage. My immense collection (the largest in the colony) were never harvested; in better condition, and my customers can rely that none but strong, healthy bulbs will be supplied. — George . Matthews, Bulb Grower, Moray place and Mornington. ■ ' Valuable Discovery for the Hair.—lf your hair is turning grey or white, or falling off, use " The Mexican Hair Renewer," for it will positively restore in every case Grey or White Hair to its original colour without leaving the disagreeable smell of most " Restorers." London.—[Advt.] JUNO'S Fruit Salt.—"l travel by rail between twenty and thirty thousand miles each year, and in my opinion there is no mode of travelling so debilitating to the human system as that. For a long time I suffered from nervousness, sluggish liver, indigestion, flatulence, and most of the a.ilnients common to those who travel a great deal. After trying many, and all more or less worthless, remedies, I ■was induced to try your FRUIT SALT, and since doing so (nine months ago) I may indeed say I am a new man, and now I never consider my portmanteau.packed unless there is a bottle of ENO'S FRUIT SALT in it. I think it right to roLommend it in every way—hence this lettei:— for I am sure it needs but to be tried, and no traveller would think of being without so great a friend in all cases of need.
