AN ALTERATION WANTED. TO THE EDITOR.
SlK,—May Ivask you the reason why the tram-could not be made to fetop at Ujiper Port Chalmers on her way from Christchurch to ;Dunediu ? . It would mean two minutes, perhaps; and save many a tired-oufc traveller the weary'waitof two hours. I have jUßyuaM^.byJ|oatfr^.thejiQj:th,^iJ-liow»j[ . am now: Raiting for 10.30 p.m. for a train—it how.being 8145p'.m. . .*.' We' unfortunately missed tha half-past 7 train,.and the stationmaster (who, I must say, is a very civil, obliging young fello.v) informed us that she only stopped to sat down passengers from north of Oamaru. Seeing tliat it means such a wait/fron 7.30 to 10130, surely the Rail- ' way department could arrange for the express to stop for a couple of minutes any time thero were passenger^ for Dunedin—especially those having come by boat.—l am, &c, Port Chalmers, February 2.
