LAND BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday lust, and was attonded by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), Duncan, Dallas, Clark, and M'Kerrow. Tiupeka.—The report of the members of the board who were appointed to meet the Tuapoka County Council committee and representatives of the cattle owners in tho district respecting the l>abnel s and Wethcrstones commonage was read —The report was received, and it was resolved that the board had no power to carry out the proposals of the cattle owners in the district i- W°9 l"-AKDS-—A. Cross, inspector of tho Cat-lms-Waikawa road, requested that, in the event of section 19, block X, Woodlands, being applied for, the right to cut the timber necessary for a bridge be reserved -Section to be withheld from -William Hlln«iiig> senr., and party applied for a coallease over 1387 acres in block XI, n oodlamls.—Consideration further adjourned for two months. Kawaiuo;—Ranger Mackenzie reported on tho unsold sections in block VII, Kawarau, stating that at the meeting called, at which eight persons were present, it was resolved to poison the rabbits on the Crown lerraco Hundred on condition of their obtaining the sole right to graze stock thereon—Consideration deferred Rock and Pillar—Messrs Stout, Moiuly, and him applied to tho board to accept Mrs J. Ramsay as the lessee of perpetual lease sections 22, 23, and 24 block 111, Rock and Pillar.—Transmission ot sections from executm-3 approved. Ranger Hughan having valued the improvements on forfeited deferred-payment section 12, block 111 Rock and Pillar, formerly held by A. Konney requested tho board to determine how the section should be dealt with.—Section to bo offered at auction at upset of 20s per acre, with valuation for improvements L 65 16s b'd, subject to Minister's approval.—-John Kenncy applied for sections 1 and 2, block XI, Rock and Pillar, on perpetual lease.—On the application of Mr Martiu this matter was adjourned for a fortnight. Oamahu.—Ranger Hughan reported having inspected sections -4!) and 2 of 14, block VI, Oamaru formerly held by J. T. Evoritt. He valued the improvements on section 49 at L<{ ss, and that on sqctionl4at Li 10s.—Government to be recommended to otter as village settlement special farm allotments section 2 of 14 at L 2 10s per acre, and sec--49 at L 4. Tuapeka East.—Ranger Hughaii reported on the complaint made by Messrs Mcc, M'Laughlin and R. Crossnn.against John Donahue for fencing m a portion of the mining reserve in Tuapeka Last district.-Adjourned for a fortnight. .Hyde.—Mr C. Martin objected to the valuation made for improvements on section 0, block VI town of Hyde, lately taken up by Mr E. M'Kay! —lhe board declined to open the question of valuation. Ranklkuurn.—The board decided to forfeit the following perpetual leases for nonfulfllment of conditions :—T, Rhodes, section 24 and 25, block VI; and James Hemilt, section 22, block VI Rankleburn. •**■>■■■ ' 1"^ D> M- Mnegoun.on behalf of H. Hummock.—The Perpetual Trustees, for T Atatheson, applied to surrender small grazing Run 1 block IX, section 2, block VII, Hummock district, and section 14, block IV, Nenthorn — surrender accepted, to be reoffered at capital value of 20.s per acre, with 200 acres deducted for peat for public use. Mr O. Martin, for George Wright, applied to surrender small grazing run, section 1, block VII, Hummock, and section 13 block IV, Nenthorn.—Surrender accepted, to be reoffered in two portions at capital value of 20s per acre

Catlins.—J. Talune and G. Hunt requested the board s approval of a sub-lease of portion of section 4S, block IV, Catlins, under perpetual lease from the former to the latter.—Consideration deferred for a week.

Besgeii.—The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that Robert Crossan had now paid up arrears on deferred-payment sections 4 and 5 block XIII, Benger.—The board resolved to rescind resolution of December 30 so far as it related to the sections mentioned.
