Brunner, Captain Waller, from the West Coast ports, arrived at the Rattray street wharf at 11.30 p.m. of Tuesday. Mr Stock (her purser) reports :—She left Westport at 2 p.m. on the 21st, experienced light S;W. breeze to Farewell Spit, which freshened into a hard gale from the S.E. with high sea; ran into Port Hardy for shelter at noon on the 22nd; proceeded on voyage to Wellington at 6.30 p.m. the same day, the weather having moderated, and_arriyed at 6.30 p.m. on the 23rd ; left Wellington at 11 p.m. the same day, arrived Lyttelton 24th at 8.40M>.m. ; left Lyttelton 25th at 8 p.m., arrived Timaru 26th at 9 a in. ; sailed at 10.15 a.m., reached Oamavu at 3.30 p.m.; sailed 5.15 p.m., and arrived as above. Experienced fine weather and smooth sea from Wellington to arrival. The s.B. Napier, with a cargo of wool and timber from Fortrose, arrived at the Rattray street wharf at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. She left Fortrose at 10.30 a.m. of the 2fith inst., and had southerly winds with fine weather to arrival.

The s.s. Waihora left the tongue wharf at 2 p.m. yesterday, with passengers and cargo, for Auckland, via the East Coast ports. We understand Captaiu Hay with his family and officers are in good health on board the barque Umvoti. The ship's company are progressing favourably at the island. A new yellow Hag was hoisted there yesterday instead of the discoloured one recently used. Many persons are unaware that the real quarantine flag is a black one, the yellow flag being intended to mark that pratique is about to be granted. The barque Assel has taken in over 2000 sacks of oats and 50 casks of tallow.

Captain Anderson, formerly of the Taupo, has been appointed to command theU.S.S. Company's steamer Dingadee, via Captain Dawson, trans ferred to the Southern Cross, and Captain Black to the Oreti.

The s.s. Napier left Dunedin yesterday evening for Owake river.

The s.s. Rosamond, Captain Stuart, coal-laden from Greymouth, arrived at Port Chalmers at 11.10 p.m. on Tuesday, and was berthed alongside the Bowen pier. She left Greymouth at 4.30 a.m. on the 24th inst.; rounded Cascade Point at midnight, and passed the company's steamer Tarawera at 11.50 a.m. on the 25th; rounded Five Finger Point at 5.40 p.m. same day ; passed Dog Island at 8 a.m. on the 26th; and arrived as above, having experienced fine weather throughout the passage. The s.s. Taieri was busy yesterday discharging her coals into the Fifeshire and the hulks at the Bowen pier. 'A topsail schooner, 12 miles S.E. of Cape Naunders standing north, was reported yesterday forenoon.
