DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.

The annual meeting of subscribers to the Dunedin Hospital, for the election of two "trustees of the institution, was held yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended. Mr P. Miller (chairman of the trust) presided, and among others present were the following gentlemen :—Drs Gordon Macdonald, Coughtrey, De Zouche, Macpherson, Messrs W. Dawsnn, M.H.R., H. S. Fish, M.H.R., T. W. Kempthorne, F. R. Chapman, John White, J. R. Sinclair, A. Sligo, T. Coull, W. Gregg, R. Wilson, Isaac Green, J. Allen, E. F. Lawrence, R. H. Leary, W. Patrick, D. Baxter, D. Bacon, W. Wright, J. Mitchell, John Gore, G. Fenwick, N. Y. A. Wales, G. L. Denniston, F. Graham, H. E. Shaddock, 11. Gourley, A. Lee Smith, W. Emery, J. N. Brown, W. Isaac, J. Hyman, \V. Gow, James Green, A. Lees, M. Mecnan, J. Kskdale, A. Thomson, J. Christie, James.Watson, J. Fleming, S. Myers, T. S. Graham, C. Haynes, B. Isaac, S. Solomon, R. Swan, George Bell, F. Meenan, R. Greig, J. Robin, Mark Sinclair, T. Moodie, J. R. Thornton, J. L. Gillies, and Dr Fitchett.

The Chairman, in opening the meeting, said lie could dwell for a considerable time in expatiating on the merits and demerits of the hospital, but he was notgoing to do so. The primary object of the meeting was to elect two trustees, and with that he intended to proceed at once. The retiring members were Mr W. Wright and Dr Batchelor, but Dr Batchelor was not offering himself for re-election, as he proposed leaving Dunedin for a long holiday. The following gentlemen were nominated :—Sir J. N. Brown, by Dr Fitchett ; Mr W. Wright, by Mr A. Thomson ; Mr A. Lee Smith, by Mr 6. L. Denniston, and Mr A. Solomon, by Mr J. Hyjian. The ballot resulted as follows :— Votes. Votes. J. N. Brown ... 51 A. Solomon ... 30 W.Wright ... 42 A. Lee Smith ... 30 The Chairman declared Messrs Brown and Wright to be duly elected. The proceedings terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
