REVENUE RETURNS.
The revenue of the colony for the quarter ended December last was L1,0U,680, made up as follows (shillings and pence omitted)' — Customs L376.770, stamps L123.334, Post and Telegraph cash receipts 1,10,708, property tax L209.800, beer duty L15.83*, railway L566.096,TC££n rati? n f, ad otber fees L16.4-21, marine L5208, miscellaneous revenue L4930, territorial revenue L15,567. The revenue returns do not contain the receipts for the last week of the' year, which, owing to the closing of the banks, had not come into account. The Treasury is quite satisfied with the figures, and the estimate is expected to be more than reached. Customs are well ahead, and the railway revenue, which hitherto has been deficient, is now only only L20.000 behind. The next three months are expected to easily make up arrears, as they are very busy ones for the department. -
