GORE RACING CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Special Reporter.)
Gore, January 13.
The Gore Racing Club's annual meeting was begun to-day cm the course, about two miles below Gore. There was a good attendance, some 1500 persons being present. The racing was unusually interesting, producing some liue finishes. Speculation was brisk, Messrs Mason and Roberts putting over LISOO through the totalisator. Resuits:—
Htmm,E Race, of 30sovs. Two miles and a distauce.—Mr Pollock's Justice, 9:9 (Johnston), 1; Robin, 10.0, 2; Waitangi, 11.5, 3. Two others ran. Won by a length, after a good race between first and second., There was L157 in the machine, 21 being on the winner. Dividend, L6 14s. Time, 4min 22fsec.
Maiden Plate, of 20sovs. One mile and a quarter.—Mr Mason's Gardenia (Leeson), 1; Mr Wilson's Waikaia (M'Grath), 2; Mr Currie's Evcrton Lass, 3. Five others ran. Gardenia was taken to the front at the start, and was never collared, winning by three lengths. L2Ol was invested on the machine, LOS being on the winner. Dividend, L2lßs. Time, 2min 26isec. Gonu Cup, of SOsovs. One mile and a-half. — Hon. G. M'Lean's Don Pedro, 8.8 (M'Grath), 1; Mr Telford's Anonyma, 7.10 (Owner), 2; Mr Anderson's Dunville, 7.5 (M'Kenzie), 3. Assyrian King 8.7 and Exile 7.0 also started. From a good start Dunville took the lead, but Anonyma at once displaced him. The pair went on several lengths in advance of tjiti others until half a mile fromhomc, where Don Pedromadca forward move. Dunville and Anonyma led alternately until in the straight, where Dunville was blocked, Don Pedro boxing him against the rails. Don Pedio won by two iengths, Anonyma just beating Dunville for second place. Time, 2min 47isec. There was L2!)0 in the machine, 112 being on the winner. Dividend, L2 (is

Distiuct Handicap, of 25sovs. One mile. —Mr H. M'Lean's Apres Moi, 8.12 (Laughlin), 1; Mr Hall's Marie, 7.11, 2: Mr Finn's Token, 8.10, 3. Four others started. A line race. "Won by half a length. Time, lmih 501sec. Dividend, Lslos. Flying Handicap, of 25sovs. Six furlongs.— Mr Anderson's Dunville, 7.12 (Sharp), 1; Mr Phelan's Enlield, 8.0, 2; Mr Telford's Anonyma, B,(i, 3. Three others started. Anonyma went away with the lead, but Dunville coming at the three-furlong post took the lead and held his own in a splendid finish. Time, lmin lOJsec. L332 was invested on the machine, L52 ticing on the winner. Dividend, L4 4s.
For the Hack Selling Race, for which six entered, Collingwood was made a warm favourite, and just won, with Mentor second and Maori third. Dividend, LI 12s.
