About half-past 12 that day a heavy thunderstorm wns experienced in the district". Kemp was silting in his father's house, and his two sisters were in the same room, when a llish of lightning passed down the chimney, striking Kemp and killing him instantly. A table and other furniture in the room were smashed. Kemp was the son of a settler in tb-district. Another account says that one of the sisters was rendered deaf by the thunderbolt. On Saturday evening Jlrs If. Reynolds, wife of a well-known settler at Cambridge, Waikato. disappeared from her borne, and though a search party has been organised sbe has mil been seen. I The body of a rabbitter named Sinclair, em!- --! ployed on Tarras station, was found about two miles from Tarras yesterday. Owing to his not reaching the homestead on Saturday for his usual rations, Search parties went out to look for him. Sinclair had visited Cromwell last month to consult a medical man. He was a, native of Scotland, where he hadbeena bank clerk,and was in Southland before he went to work ou the Tarras station.
