THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL.

Auckland, August 13.

The R.M.S. Monowai, Captain Carey, arrived from San Francisco this evening with the San Francisco mail. She left San Francisco on July 24th at 5 p.m., one day late; reached Honolulu on July 31st, at 6 a.m.; sailed again at 5 p.m. The weather was fine. The voyage was made in the fast time of 19d shr 41min, the steaming time being 18d 17hr 30min. The average daily run was 319$ knots, an average of 13 1-7 knots per hour. Passengers: For New Zealand— Miss Murray, Miss Hart, Hon. A. Campbell, Messrs James Payne, Copeland, Ware, Wilson, Lacy, jun., Blanchard; 35 second class. For Australia—4s saloon and 30 second class. The Monowai leaves for Sydney at midnight.

The southern San Francisco mails will be sent by the Mahioapua at daybreak. The Hon. A. Campbell, who comes by the Monowai, is accredited representative of the United States Government to interest the Australasian colonies in being officially represented at the World's Fair at Chicago. He proceeds to Wellington to interview the Govern-, meat and travel the colony, afterwards proceeding to Australia.
