MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,168,0C0 quarters, and for the Continent 2,416,000 quarters. CUMMING MARRIED. London, June 10. (Hecelved June 11. »t 10.60 a.m.) Sir W. Gordon Cumming was married today to Miss Garner, a New York lady, possessing a fortune of £20,000 a year. The Chilian President's fleet has been ordered to attempt to attack Pisagua, but the vessels are being pursued by the insurgent gunboats. THE LATE CANADIAN PREMIER. (Beoelved June 11. at 10 50 a.m.) The certificate of Captain Chapman, of the ship Joseph Scammell, has been suspended for 12 months. • AN INFECTED PORT. Owing to the prevalence of smallpox at Mauritius the Health department has declared it to be an infected port, and all vessels arriving frcm there will be placed in quarantine. '• RESCUING A SHIPWRECKED CREW. Sydney, Jane 11. (Received June 11, at 11.30 a.m.) A later telegram from Bellinger Head states that the crew of the wrecked schooner Venus were not rescued by the pilot crew, as was first supposed, but that the rescue party comprised a crew from the stranded steamers Avon and Fernmount. It was with the greatest difficulty that the rescue was effected. The Venus' crew were very much exhausted from their long exposure in the rigging. (Beeelved June 12, at 1 a.m.) THE WEATHER. The weather is clearing up. THE ELECTIONS. Great interest is being manifested throughout the country in the approaching general elections. SILVER MINE SHARES. Hobart, June 11. {Beoelved June 11, at 11 a.m.) The Government have decided to support the proposed Antarctic expedition, and £3000 will be placed on the Estimates for that purpose.
