LICENSING COMMITTEES.
KAIKORAI.
The annual licensing meeting of the Kaikorai v Licensing Committee was held in the Volunteer Hall, Green Island, yesterday. The members present were Messrs W. Thompson (who was voted to the chair, in the absence of Mr Martin), T. Howorth, and J. Mathieson.
Kaikorai Junction Hotel—John Eossapplied for renewal of publican's 10 o'clock license for the above hotel. The police report was favourable, and there were no objections.—Application granted.
Commercial Hotel.—Adam Houlston applied for a renewal of publican's 10 o'clock license. The police report on this hotel was also favourable, and was backed up by a certificate signed; by 10 householders testifying to the good character of the lioensee and respectability of the house,—The application was granted. Inspector Hickson's report showed that drunkenness was almost unknown in the Green Island police district, including Green Island, Kaikorai, and part of Otakia districts—there having been only four persons arrested for that offence during the past year..
