The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club have decided that Eoss, the jockey injured at Napier, is not eligible for a donation from the distressed jockeys' fund, as it is for jockeys injured at Riccarton only. Mr 6. H. Clifford was appointed to represent the club at the Wellington conference. Notice of motion was given for a new rule providing that no horsa in whose ownership any paid official of a race meeting or any person engaged in working the totalisator thereat has any interest in shall be qualified to enter or start at such meeting ; any person so entering or starting a horse to be liable to a fine not exceeding £100. Tho Programme Committee have increased the total stakes at the Spring meeting by 195sovs, at the Midsummer meeting by 70sovs. The dates of the Spring meeting are fixed for November 9,11, and 14. At the Autumn meeting the Great Autumn Handicap will be run on the second day. A race called the Great Easter Handicap, of 50030V5, will be ran the first day. The Easter Handicap, of 20030V8, has been struck off.
At Sydney Tattersall's on Monday night there was some speculation over the Melbonrne Cup, Carbine is in most demand, at 100 to 7 ; Dreadnought, Melos, and. Gresford coming next at 100 to 4 each.
