The customs returns for the .-olony for May chow a total of £115,161—Auckland contributing £23 096, Wellington £24 943, Ohriitctaurch £i 6.357, Dunedin £29,644. The previous month's total was £132,836, and that for May 1890, £127,165. The beer duty for the colony for last month totalled £1034 17s sd, the returnii of the principal cenlres being—Auckland £978. Wellington £452, Christchurch £706, Dunedin £892. For the previous month the total was £4998, and for May 1890, £4400.
Ihe result of the threshing hat shown that the yield OD Inch Oliitha and other low, flat ground in the Olutha district is scarcely up to that of last year.
