In the second spell the Pirati started in dashing Btyls, and penned their oppi nents, but, apparently through over-eagernes lost several good opportunities. The Darl Blues are still a long way from being in goot condition, some of the forwards being very lat< in getting to the line out and np to the scrums The backing up and collaring of the forwards ii also capable of great improvement. The backi showed good form, and with a littie more know Jedge of one another's play will make a good lot The halves might feed the three-quarters more however, with advantage. Mr W. D. There was an unusually large attendance of the publio on the North ground on Saturday to witness the match between the Kaikorai and Union Clubs. The result of the game was somewhat of a surprise, as though the Kaikorai team were the favourites, it was not expected that there would be more than a point or two between them, whereas Kaikorai won by 6 points to 1. Tho touch line umpires were Messrs Davio (Kaikorai) and Downes (Union), with Mr B. R. Bowler as referee. The Union captain won the toss, and took advantage of the 6light breeze blowing. The play was fast from the "start, and Duncan, for the Kaikorai, was the first to score, after a good rush by his side. The major points were not registered. This caused the Maroonß to strain every neive to equalise matters, and .they repeatedly invaded the Kaikorai quarters, but no further score was made in the first spell. On changing ends, Henderson from a throw out secured the ball and dropped over the line, but Harming was nnable to register a goal.
